Charlotte Juillard
Charlotte Juillard is a designer and artistic director. After studying interior architecture at the Ecole Camondo in Paris, she decided to create her own creative studio in 2014, ranging from object design to scenography.
Adoring exchange and new experiences, the studio works in many fields and is constantly looking for new challenges in furniture, but also textiles, fashion, beauty and music.
Juliard explains some meaning behind her design with Merlin stating, “Merlin is not a conventional play. It is a spectacular piece that takes its place on a table and challenges, seduces.
Is it design or art? I'm not trying to decide, the border is thin and permeable and my concern is to make an object as simple as a candlestick extraordinary by generating emotions. What I like is the collaboration with craftsmen who perpetuate know-how and give their marks to objects. This is what we do with the resin part of the candlestick, a very little known and little worked material.
The technique makes each piece a unique and non-duplicable object, thus giving an emotional and singular value to Merlin.”
